Château Toulouse-Lautrec

Dating back to the 16th century, the estate entered its most celebrated chapter in 1883, when it became the family home of Countess Adèle de Toulouse-Lautrec and a source of inspiration for her son, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec.

Henri remained closely connected to the Château, had its wine delivered to him in Paris and spent his final months there before his death in 1901.

In 2016, the estate received the prestigious Maison des Illustres label from the French Ministry of Culture, recognising its role in preserving the memory of one of France’s most influential artists.

Now owned and restored by the Huynh family, the Château brings together vineyards, art, architecture and nature as a living expression of Bordeaux heritage and artistic freedom.

Wine has been crafted at the estate for almost five centuries, combining Bordeaux tradition with modern precision and expressive winemaking.

The vineyard and winery are led by Charles Estager, Estate Director and Winemaker, alongside oenologist Bruno Lacoste. Together, they guide each cuvée from vineyard to bottle, allowing the quality of the fruit, the character of the terroir and the identity of the estate to shape every wine.

Since the Huynh family took ownership, the winery has undergone an extensive technical transformation. Restored concrete vats now sit alongside modern temperature-controlled equipment, new French oak barrels and larger oak vessels.

Each wine is handled according to its individual style. Stainless steel preserves freshness and aromatic purity, while French oak, maturation on fine lees and ageing in amphora may be used to develop texture, depth and complexity.

The result is a distinctive collection, from the Château Toulouse-Lautrec Red, matured in oak for 18 months, to the White, fermented in new French oak and aged on fine lees for eight months.

Located between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers, the estate encompasses 43 hectares of vineyards surrounded by woodland and open countryside.

Its clay-gravel alluvial soils were shaped by the ancient geological trench that formed the Garonne River. This distinctive composition provides natural drainage while retaining the moisture and balance needed to produce expressive, characterful wines.

The vineyard is planted with the red Bordeaux varieties Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Malbec, alongside Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon and Muscadelle.

Château Toulouse-Lautrec follows an environmentally responsible approach to viticulture, carefully managing its vineyards, woodland and surrounding natural habitats.

The estate has been undergoing organic conversion since 2020, with the 2023 vintage marking the first certified-organic vintage of its white wine. The remainder of the vineyard and wine production is certified Haute Valeur Environmental Level 3, commonly known as HVE 3.

This certification recognises the estate’s work in biodiversity conservation, plant-protection strategy, fertiliser management and responsible water use.

The property is also home to a rich variety of flora and fauna, reinforcing its identity as both a wine estate and a place deeply connected to nature.
